Dr Candice Silverman has been with the Obesity Surgery Centre since 2009. She is an experienced surgeon who completed most of her training at Fremantle Hospital in WA, Tweed Hospital, NSW, and John Flynn Private Hospital, QLD. Her two year post-fellowship training in minimally invasive surgery focused on oesophago-gastric surgery, hepato-pancreatico-biliary and bariatric surgery. Diagnostic and therapeutic upper endoscopy, along with laparoscopic hernia repair, laparoscopic cholecystectomy and bile duct exploration, is also part of her repertoire. Dr Silverman performs endoscopic procedures for the Orbera System Intragastric Balloon and is a point of reference for all general surgical matters, including lap banding, sleeve gastrectomy, and the management of reflux disease.
Dr Layani provided extensive training to Dr Silverman when she was a fellow and she is widely considered an extremely valuable resource and member of the Obesity Surgery Centre at John Flynn Private Hospital. She is an accredited consultant General Surgeon at Tweed Hospital and Murwillumbah District Hospital, NSW and John Flynn Private Hospital, QLD.
