Carol has worked with Dr Layani in his practice for over 10 years. She is a registered nurse, originally working with Dr Layani as the practice nurse, seeing all patients prior to their surgery and following surgery for their appointments.
Throughout her time in the practice she has actively participated in research with the clinics dietitian on the impact of follow up visits, and whether this makes a difference to the patients weight loss achievements. The research was accepted for presentation in one of the largest conferences in the world– the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery – held in Boston in 2004. It was an amazing opportunity to present research done in our own centre and also to hear from other world renowned bariatric surgeons and allied health staff.
Carol has now changed direction within the practice and works predominately in administration. This still gives her the opportunity to liaise with patients who are undergoing weight loss surgery and assist them in their mission, but allows the flexibility of expanding her career in other fulfilling areas. Carol finds her work deeply satisfying and loves seeing patients succeed in their weight loss journey.
